Payment comes directly from your Insurance Carrier. Some companies send payments out electronically, but a majority of them still issue payments via paper checks.
The claim process can very depending on the severity and type of claim you have. If you experienced a fire loss in your home, this can take up to a year to sometimes complete the claim process. If you experienced wind damage to your roof, it could take a few months. Each claim is different.
We do not issue the check. Your insurance carrier will issue payment to you upon completion of the claim.
The Mortgagee is listed on payments over $2,500.00 for most insurance carriers. As the mortgagee company is listed on your policy they have an interest in your property/home. We would recommend that if you receive a check with your mortgage company’s name on the check as well, do not endorse the check till you have spoken with your mortgage company directly. They will be able to direct you where to send the check and if you need to provide any documents to them. When your mortgage company signs and releases the check back to you, then the policy holder can endorse and cash the check.
The policy holder/insured is responsible for getting the repair work completed. Meaning you are able to hire the repair person or contractor you want.
